Climb out of the Darkness
Postpartum Progress’ Climb Out of the Darkness™ is the world’s largest event raising awareness of maternal mental illnesses like postpartum depression, postpartum anxiety & OCD, postpartum PTSD, postpartum psychosis, postpartum bipolar disorder, and pregnancy depression and anxiety.
Climb Out is held on or near the longest day of the year annually to help shine the most light on perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. The event features mothers and others across the globe joining together to climb mountains and hike trails to represent their symbolic rise out of the darkness of maternal mental illness and into the light of hope and recovery. We can’t wait for Climb Out of the Darkness 2015, to be held Saturday, June 20th. Mark your calendars!
Help us shine the light of hope with our words and our advocacy efforts so that our fellow mothers will receive better information and better treatment, and their new families will get off to the healthy and strong start they deserve. If you have questions or would like to lead or join a Climb or become a Climb sponsor, email us at climbout@postpartumprogress.org.

National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI) and March of Dimes (MOD) Walks
Forming a Maternal Mental Health Team
Interested in becoming a NAMIWalks or March of Dimes team captain for a Maternal Mental Health Team in your Community?
1. First check to see if your community has a walk planned and if so, be sure a Maternal Mental Health team hasn't already been formed for your walk by checking the "Comments" below.
2. Form a maternal mental health team for your community's walk through the NAMI website or the March of Dimes website. Be sure to label your team "Maternal Mental Health" vs. postpartum depression or another term so your team is easy to find by all in the maternal mental health community.
3. If you form a team note it here on this National Coalition for Maternal Mental Health webpage under Leave a comment, and include a link to your team so others can easily find and register for your team. You can even create your own webpage/blog on our website with photos, and other information pre or post walk (e-mail us and we'll explain! info@2020momproject.com).
4. Remind those who register with you, that both female and male T-shirts are available for purchase here (scroll to bottom of page).
5. Consider having your team pass out baby blue dot stickers to other walkers in honor of maternal mental health awareness. Any size and any brand will do. Here is a sample you can order stickers via Amazon here. You can even print "Get Help" and the name of local resources or PSI's telephone number 1-800-994-4773, postpartumprogress.com, and if there is room, 2020MomProject.com and bluedotproject.org on your stickers
